The objective of my research is to achieve sustainable hydrogen storage and utilization. In particular, the focus is on improving the hydrogen absorption and desorption properties of hydrogen storage materials. Magnesium (Mg) is one of an attractive hydrogen storage material due to its high storage capacity (7.6 mass%). However, the hydrogen absorption and desorption kinetics of Mg are slow and require high temperatures. Solid oxides have been investigated as catalysts to improve Mg kinetics. Additionally, the mixed state of these materials from the perspective of microscopic structural evaluation using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) has been investigated. Studies on the thermodynamics of hydrogen absorption and desorption in hydrogen storage materials, as well as on batteries, are also part of my research.
