Load-supporting function of bone is a result of mechanical adaptation achieved by microscopic trabecular bone remodeling. We have been investigating mechanisms of mechanical adaptation in such biological objects which have hierarchical structures, and proposing new machine structure/materials. We also have been developing useful techniques for medicine such as bone fracture, gait and artificial bone model based on biomechanical ideas.
