Environmental DNA (eDNA) is DNA molecules shed by organisms into surrounding water, soil and air. Our lab is one of the two original laboratories which started eDNA study in Japan to develop molecular techniques to analyze eDNA as a proxy for species diversity of aquatic organisms such as fish. We have been developing cutting-edge eDNA techniques to explore the potential of eDNA analysis.
