Main interests are on the following fields: (1) growth analysis of forest trees mainly on the dry matter budget, (2) genetic aspects of the tree growth and wood properties, and (3) ecological studies on the "satoyama" forests. "Satoyama" is a place where people have used forest resources sustainably.
