Abstract

Our aim in this paper is to consider the usufulness of computational models for emotions in social scinece, in particular, sociology of emotions that actively tries to deal with emotions which has been avoided in the traditional sociology.

Conventional models for emotions in the research area of artificial intelligence and the aspect of sociology of emotions were introduced. Furthermore, the theory of Gergen(1994/1998) that proposes how human science should be studied from viewpoints of social psychology was introduced and the relationship with sociology of emotions was considered. Finally, the usefulness of mathematical and computational models for emotions in sociology of emotions was discussed from the viewpoints of Gergen's theory.

Key words

artificial intelligence, computational models for emotions, group dynamics, sociology of emotions, Gergen's generativism
