Workshop on Human-Robot Symbiosis:
Synergistic Creation of Human-Robot Relationships

Bled, Slovenia, October 26, 2011

Objective:

In order to establish a future society where humans can have creative relationships with robots, collaborative research of roboticians and human scientists is needed. For this research, the project gFunding creative relationships between humans and robotsh has been starting and produced the outcomes in Japan. The project consists of researchers having interdisciplinary backgrounds including robotics, computer science, psychology, and psychiatry. Some of these researchers have already found robot factors affecting feelings toward robots, including trust, familiarity, and anxiety. Moreover, some have also found human factors affecting interaction with robots, including age, gender, and cognitive traits.

The objects of the workshop are encouragement for researchers and developers of robots to understand complexity of processes in human-robot interaction from perspectives of both users and designers, by introducing research results of the project. Then, we aim at discussing with more technologists about how we should return outcomes of robotics research to the society in order to create sound relationships with robots and humans.
